Find out how SO Vocal, CBSO’s 200-strong community choir based in Selly Oak, is continuing to rehearse and socialise during this strange time with SO Vocal Digihearsals!

Handel’s Messiah isn’t so much an oratorio as a national institution! Yet, even though Messiah was a favourite at the great Birmingham Triennial Festivals, the CBSO Chorus has never sung it.

We had planned to put that right this season. Instead, enjoy our CBSO Chorus at home bringing you the timeless ‘Hallelujah Chorus’.

I am especially thrilled that my three beloved choirs have come together to record this masterpiece by Mozart; hearts and minds reaching out across borders at a time of crisis” - Simon Halsey CBE.

A total of 160 singers from the CBSO Chorus, Orfeó Català, and the London Symphony Chorus, conducted by Simon Halsey (Director of each choir), have recorded Mozart’s Ave Verum Corpus.

A message of friendship and solidarity made possible thanks to technology, which helps to break barriers and remove distances in the midst of this COVID-19 pandemic.

Somewhere Over the Rainbow performed by members of the CBSO Chorus from their homes.
