We believe that you are never too young to experience a live performance by the CBSO. The opportunities we offer for our youngest audience members provide exciting introductions to new sound worlds and instruments, as well as using familiar stories to develop creativity.
Our specialist early years concerts, Notelets, now have performances on Fridays, enabling Early Years Settings and Reception classes to benefit from these lively, participatory events. Led by an experienced CBSO presenter, each performance is given by a different CBSO ensemble - from string quartets to a mini-orchestra.
Musical Storytimes is one of our most popular projects, and enables Early Years Settings, Reception and Year 1 classes to have a visit from two CBSO musicians who bring a popular children’s book to life through interactive storytelling, live music and creative activities.
The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra is proud to be working in partnership with schools and settings on their Artsmark Award journey. By supporting Artsmark settings, we're helping put the arts at the heart of education, inspiring young people to create, experience and participate in high quality arts and culture.

As an Arts Award Supporter and Arts Award Centre, the CBSO's activities can also contribute to a young person's achievement of an Arts Award.
