An interactive introduction to the brass family for KS2 pupils
The CBSO’s Fanfare Project is a wonderful introduction to the brass section of the orchestra - incorporating live performance, an interactive film featuring CBSO players, a brief history of the fanfare, and an opportunity for pupils to create their very own fanfare - all in the space of just 2 hours!
The session begins with an interactive film and live performance, which will showcase the CBSO Brass section – trumpet, French horn, trombone and tuba - giving pupils the opportunity to hear each instrument individually as well as performing as a brass quintet. Students will be introduced to the idea of the fanfare: what they are, how they are used, and how they have inspired composers. Using everything they have learnt during the session, pupils will then work in groups to develop their own fanfares using PBuzz instruments, handheld percussion and their voices
Alongside the delivery element of this project, we have created an accompanying teachers pack which can be used before and after the workshop, and which will be provided electronically to each school participating in this project.
Fanfare workshops take place across a school morning or afternoon. The first part of this workshop can be accessed by a larger group (the performance and interactive film), however, the creative workshop is best suited to one class (max 30 pupils). The cost of a Fanfare workshop is £300, to book your visit or for more information please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call 0121 616 6522.
