Two Year 3 classes from Cotteridge Primary School worked with CBSO musicians Jane Wright (violin) and Kate Setterfield (cello) to create new musical works as part of the Myths & Legends project. ‘Minotheseus’ is named from a combination of Greek hero Theseus and mythical monster, the Minotaur. The work uses lots of different percussion and you should listen out for the rhythmical clapping section which ends ‘Minotheseus’! Don’t miss the sliding string glissandi which appear throughout the piece.
‘The Battle of the Labyrinth’ again named after Greek mythology uses beautiful soaring violin melodies, a solo xylophone section and finishes with everyone joining in with percussion. For their art workshops, Year 3 worked with Benny Semp, using printing to create exciting scenes and monsters. Enjoy browsing through the gallery as you listen to the pieces!
