Since 2015 we have provided annual Relaxed Concerts at the CBSO Centre enabling special school pupils to experience a mini-orchestra in a supported and accessible environment.
Each year concerts are developed around a different theme or story, to date we have explored Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes and the story of the Pied Piper of Hamelin.
Please note if you are a state special school in Birmingham you are entitled to FREE tickets for these concerts due to a partnership between the CBSO and the Birmingham Music Education Hub. Please look out for a letter providing details of how you can access these tickets.
"Another successful year at the CBSO special school concerts! Last week was a magical journey of music and storytelling that dazzled our pupils (and staff). This year has improved further in terms of its accessibility, and auditory and visual information... and then the bubbles came out, just to top it all off, our pupils were beside themselves.
You really have solved the mystery of how to create a performance of complex and eclectic classical music that inspires our pupils, helps their understanding and improves their mental health, wellbeing and enjoyment of life. I only wish you did enough shows that I could bring all 400 of our pupils to see you.
Thank you once again for the valuable time and energy you have for our pupils."
