Since 2015 we have provided annual Relaxed Concerts at the CBSO Centre enabling special school pupils to experience a mini-orchestra in a supported and accessible environment.
Each year concerts are developed around a different theme or story, to date we have explored Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes and the story of the Pied Piper of Hamelin.
Performances last for approximately 45 minutes, and pupils are guided through the performance by an experienced presenter. Our presenter not only acts as narrator and storyteller, but also facilitates elements of audience participation, introduces the musicians and their instruments and provides an engaging and lively atmosphere within each concert.
Performances are given by the CBSO’s mini-orchestra comprising of ten musicians drawn from each section of the orchestra. Throughout the concert they perform a diverse range of different pieces, including arrangements of classical music, familiar pieces from film and TV and we commission new pieces each year to link with our theme.
Our next Relaxed concerts will be taking place in the spring of 2018, with further details being announced in April 2017.
Tickets for these concerts are £3 per person with 2 free tickets for every 20 booked, and to book tickets or find out more about these performances please contact email@example.com or call 0121 6166531.
Please note if you are a state special school in Birmingham you are entitled to FREE tickets for these concerts due to a partnership between the CBSO and the Birmingham Music Education Hub. Please look out for a letter in the summer providing details of how you can access these tickets.
