- Strauss Die Fledermaus: Overture, 9′
- Schumann Cello Concerto, 26′
- Strauss Ein Heldenleben, 46′
Richard Strauss liked to blow his own trumpets… and his horns, trombones and tubas. So when he used a colossal orchestra to tell the epic story of an imaginary hero it’s not hard to work out who he actually had in mind! Every performance of Ein Heldenleben is an occasion; first, though, a long-awaited return for one of Britain’s finest living cellists, and vintage champagne from Johann Strauss (no relation).
CBSO+ 6 February, 1pm:
CBSO Violinist David Gregory and two other CBSO musicians (Elspeth Dutch, horn & Julian Atkinson, double bass) delve into Strauss’ Ein Heldenleben.
CBSOcial with Nikolaj Znaider
For events sold by THSH Box Office, the THSH per-ticket commission of £3 (£2.50 for online bookings) is included in the price of every individual ticket priced over £13. Tickets purchased as part of a CBSO Concert Package are exempt. For full details see cbso.co.uk/terms.
