“My soul doth magnify the Lord!” Johann Sebastian Bach contemplates God, and his imagination catches fire: even he never wrote anything more joyous and more richly inspired than his Magnificat. Two famous cantatas and the resplendent Orchestral Suite No. 3 provide the upbeat to this celebration with Ex Cathedra of one of music’s most beautiful minds.

This concert can be purchased as part of a CBSO Concert Package or Ex Cathedra subscription series. Discounts may vary – please check when booking.

Pre-concert talk 6:15pm: Jeffrey Skidmore explores contexts for Bach’s cantatas, including the impact of Luther and the Reformation, with performances from our Girls Academy of Vocal Music conducted by Susannah Vango.
