Programme

  • Barber String Quartet
  • Korngold String Sextet

Erich Wolfgang Korngold was only 12 years old when Mahler declared him a genius. It’s easy to hear why in the 20-year old Korngold’s astonishing String Sextet: half an hour of soaring tunes, lush romantic harmonies and delightful musical jokes, delivered with an irresistible Viennese swing. But first, discover Barber’s Adagio the way the composer intended – as the glowing heart of his only String Quartet.
