- Britten Nocturne, 27′
- Beethoven Symphony No. 3 (Eroica), 47′
Beethoven’s Eroica symphony changed music forever. It’s music of revolution: breathless, bold and crackling with an electricity that still sets hairs on end today. Under the young Birmingham-raised conductor Jamie Phillips, it’ll be a thrilling climax to a concert that opens deep in Sibelius’s winter night – and features the superb English tenor Toby Spence in Britten’s atmospheric Nocturne.
Part of The Spirit of England.
CBSO+ 6.15pm: English tenor Toby Spence will be in conversation with CBSO violinist Catherine Arlidge MBE.
For events sold by THSH Box Office, the THSH per-ticket commission of £3 (£2.50 for online bookings) is included in the price of every individual ticket priced over £13, with the exception of tickets purchased as part of a CBSO concert package.
