- Prokofiev The Love for Three Oranges: Suite, 15′
- Beethoven Violin Concerto, 42′
- Vaughan Williams Symphony No. 4, 34′
Forget everything you thought you knew about English music, because Vaughan Williams’ Fourth Symphony is the white-hot vision of an angry prophet. It shocked audiences in 1935 and it’s every bit as gripping today. It’s hard to think of a more perfect contrast than Beethoven’s radiant Violin Concerto: deep serenity and endless song, played today by Augustin Hadelich – Musical America’s 2018 “Instrumentalist of the Year”.
(This is a change from the previously advertised talk including CBSO musicians - we apologise for any disappointment caused.)
For events sold by THSH Box Office, the THSH per-ticket commission of £3 (£2.50 for online bookings) is included in the price of every individual ticket priced over £13. Tickets purchased as part of a CBSO Concert Package are exempt. For full details see cbso.co.uk/terms.
