- Britten War Requiem, 85′
“My subject is War, and the pity of War.” In May 1962, the CBSO gave the world premiere of Britten’s War Requiem: a passionate and profoundly moving exploration of conflict and remembrance, written for the consecration of the new Coventry Cathedral. Every performance is special to us so be there, in our Centenary year, as Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla and an international team of soloists recreate that historic night.
This concert has been made possible with generous support from Jerry Sykes.
The CBSO's youth ensembles are generously supported by the Clive & Sylvia Richards Charity, Helen Rachael Mackaness Charitable Trust and The Leverhulme Trust, with additional support from the Andor Charitable Trust, Angus Allnatt Charitable Foundation, The Millichope Foundation and The Irving Memorial Trust.
