Programme

  • Tan Dun  Elegy: Snow in June
  • Steve Reich Sextet

Percussionists from the CBSO and Royal Birmingham Conservatoire join forces for two incredible pieces of 21st century music. Tan Dun’s heart wrenching concerto for cello and percussion tells the story of a young woman executed for crimes she did not commit, while Steve Reich’s minimalist Sextet uses hypnotic repetitions and sequences to build up a compelling musical landscape. 

Performance durations vary, but are usually less than 1 hour.
A selection of delicious cakes and hot drinks will be available to buy up to an hour before the performances.
