- Britten Piano Concerto, 34′
- Vaughan Williams Symphony No. 2 (A London Symphony), 48′
There’s nothing nostalgic about great British music – and when our superb youth orchestra play Britten and Vaughan Williams, they don’t hold back! Los Angeles Philharmonic Dudamel Fellow Jamie Phillips knows that – he used to be a member himself. Add Vaughan Williams’ most colourful symphony, a world premiere from a dynamic young British composer, and Steven Osborne playing Britten’s firecracker of a Piano Concerto, and it’s an explosive combination.
Part of The Spirit of England.
The commissioning and world premiere of Daniel Kidane's Breakbeat has been made possible with generous support from the Feeney Trust and the PRS for Music Foundation
Jamie Phillips’ appearance in this concert has been made possible with generous support from the Perry Family Charitable Trust.
