Griegs Piano Concerto.

Programme

  • Bax Overture to a Picaresque Comedy9′
  • Grieg Piano Concerto30′
  • Elgar Symphony No. 152′

When Elgar’s First Symphony was premiered in 1908, the audience jumped to its feet and cheered. 110 years on, it still sets the pulse racing: a searingly honest emotional drama that begins with maybe the greatest tune Elgar ever wrote. Michael Seal sets things buzzing with Bax’s very British comedy overture, and Freddy Kempf plays all the notes in rather more than just the right order, in Grieg’s ever-popular Piano Concerto.
