- Handel Semele, 146′
Careful what you wish for. There’s loving someone who’s out of your league – and then there’s the princess Semele, who’s got her eye on the King of the Gods himself. It can’t end well: but in the meantime, Handel’s 1744 “dramatic entertainment” tells her story in music of glittering colour and theatricality: the spirit of Georgian England at its magnificent best. And baroque music expert Richard Egarr has assembled a truly divine cast!
There will be a 20-minute interval after Act 2.
Part of The Spirit of England.
CBSO+ 5.45pm: Richard Egarr in conversation with CBSO Chorus Director Simon Halsey CBE.
For events sold by THSH Box Office, the THSH per-ticket commission of £3 (£2.50 for online bookings) is included in the price of every individual ticket priced over £13, with the exception of tickets purchased as part of a CBSO concert package.
