Jazz In The Jungle Wide.

The CBSO Jungle Jazz Band is back performing Jazz in the Jungle and Oscar at the Opera!

Bringing to life two wonderful books created by local author, Joey Walter and beautifully illustrated by Birmingham-based artist, Ning-ning Li, these stories tell of the loveable, piano-playing ocelot, Oscar and his musical adventures.

Jazz in the Jungle is Joey’s first children’s book, telling the tale of Oscar the Ocelot who wants to learn to swing like the jazz greats he idolises. In the second book Oscar and his jazz-loving friends enjoy a very different experience – their first time at the opera!

The readings will be accompanied by music especially written by Joey for members of the CBSO, followed by children’s workshops* giving younger members of the audience the chance to design their own characters, led by Joey and Ning.

Please note that these performances will take place outdoors in the Lightwoods House event marquee, with workshops inside in the Long Room.

*Workshops suitable for children of 5-10 years, though younger family members are very welcome to join in! All children to be accompanied by an adult.
