Programme

  • Mendelssohn String Octet in E flat

When string players want to unwind, they gather up some friends and play Mendelssohn’s Octet: thirty-five minutes of enchantment, romance and sheer, rocketing exuberance from the pen of a 16-year old genius with his imagination on fire. As much fun to play as it is to listen to, it’s one of those pieces that leaves everyone smiling.
