  • Weinberg Symphony No.333′

When Mirga Grazinyte-Tyla and the CBSO’s recording of Weinberg’s 21st Symphony won Recording of the Year at the 2020 Gramophone awards, the judging panel described it as “overwhelming”. Now, she returns to the emotionally-charged music of this neglected 20th century composer with his powerful Third Symphony. “With Weinberg, each piece is just greater than the next” says Mirga, and if you love Shostakovich and Mahler, it’ll sweep you off your feet - especially coming after the sheer loveliness of Mahler’s own Ruckert-Lieder. “I am lost to the world” goes the last of these heart-rending songs, sung today by the great British mezzo Karen Cargill. Prepare to be transported.

Your safety at the CBSO's concerts
We care deeply about our customers, and that's why the CBSO is working closely with Symphony Hall to ensure that you have a safe and enjoyable experience. You can read about all the new measures in place to help keep you safe on the Symphony Hall's wesbite by clicking here.

On sale information
We’re delighted to have live performances on sale and can’t wait to welcome audiences back to Symphony Hall. However, please note that tickets must be booked online as telephone and counter sales are currently unavailable, as the Symphony Hall Box Office team are still working from home.

A new acoustic screen has been installed at the rear of the Symphony Hall stage, allowing a larger number of musicians to sit on the flat stage and play together while maintaining social distancing than has previously been possible.  The view of the back of the stage from the Stalls will be slightly affected as a result: but it does mean that CBSO audiences will see and hear what we believe is the largest orchestra performing regularly anywhere in the UK at this time.

Government Restrictions: please note, this concert is being planned according to the latest Government guidelines and roadmap. Should the concert be unable to go ahead as live and is instead filmed, your ticket will be valid to watch the concert online. Refunds will also be available on request.

For events sold by THSH Box Office, the THSH per-ticket commission of £3 is included in the price of every individual ticket priced over £13. For full details see cbso.co.uk/terms.
