Energy, impulsiveness, compelling assertiveness and immeasurable musicality: These are the extraordinary qualities with which Mirga Gražinyte-Tyla has apparently effortlessly set herself at the top in a traditional male domain. Without a doubt, she is one of the most interesting contemporary artists. Since 2016 she has followed in the footsteps of Sir Simon Rattle, Sakari Oramo and Andris Nelsons as chief conductor of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. With a keen sense for the tension between tradition and progress, she left her mark on the top sounding body. The orchestra has already worked together with Sheku Kanneh-Mason several times under these circumstances: “Inspiration” was the name of the first joint CD.
