- Stravinsky The Rite of Spring, 32′
When The Rite of Spring was premiered in 1913, it caused a riot, and with Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla conducting, Stravinsky’s revolutionary ballet still delivers quite a punch! Add the Birmingham premiere of a lost work by Stravinsky, hear the Lithuanian folk songs that inspired The Rite (27 June only), add Nicola Benedetti in Shostakovich’s powerful First Violin Concerto – and we’re ending the season at maximum voltage.
