We are sorry to announce that conductor Constantinos Carydis has had to withdraw from this performance due to illness. We are grateful to Pablo González for stepping in at extremely short notice to conduct this week's concert.
As a result, the programme will open with Rimsky-Korsakov’s May Night: Overture instead of Skalkottas’ Four Images, and will feature Rimsky-Korsakov’s version of A Night on the Bare Mountain instead of Mussorgsky’s original.
A hut on hen’s legs, an angry gnome, and all the bells of old Russia: Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition is a musical jewel-box crammed with glowing colours, fabulous stories and irresistible tunes. But that goes for everything in this concert: from Falla’s dream of a perfumed Spanish night to Mussorgsky’s spooktacular A Night on the Bare Mountain.
For events sold by THSH Box Office, the THSH per-ticket commission of £3 (£2.50 for online bookings) is included in the price of every individual ticket priced over £13. Tickets purchased as part of a CBSO Concert Package are exempt. For full details see cbso.co.uk/terms.
