Join us at New Street Station to see our orchestra perform live - and even have a go at conducting them yourself!

Join us this Friday at New Street Station at 4pm and 5.30pm to see our orchestra perform live for free & you can even have a go at conducting them yourself!

Moving out of our usual venue and into one of the UK’s busiest stations in the heart of Birmingham, the Orchestra will perform an eclectic mix of much-loved music ranging from Star Wars to classical showstoppers with conductor Michael Seal.

The two performances will last approximately 25 minutes and as a very special ‘encore’ we are offering members of the public the once in a lifetime opportunity to step onto the conductor’s podium and take the baton and conduct the orchestra (!).

If conducting the CBSO at New Street station sounds just the ticket for you or someone you know, then head over to our social media channels - Twitter, Facebook and Instagram - and follow the instruction on how to apply, or email us at with the subject header ‘Figaro! Figaro! Figaro!’. If emailing us, please include your name and a contact number in your email message.

This event is part of a wide-ranging programme of musical events across the city this autumn which have been made possible by support from the orchestra’s new principal Season partner HSBC UK and Arts Council England’s Culture Recovery Fund.

Useful Information
To be in with a chance of conducting the Orchestra, please respond on the social media platform of your choice or e-mail us as above by 6pm on Wednesday 13 October.
