- Stravinsky Dumbarton Oaks, 15′
- Bernstein Serenade, 30′
- Prokofiev Symphony No. 5, 46′
Forged in the furnace of war and premiered to the sound of gunfire, Prokofiev’s massive Fifth Symphony is dedicated to “the greatness of the human spirit”. Sounds ambitious? Guest conductor Ludovic Morlot and the full CBSO will make it catch fire. Meanwhile, perhaps only the composer of West Side Story could have written a violin concerto inspired by a drinking party! Tasmin Little leads the revels tonight.
For events sold by THSH Box Office, the THSH per-ticket commission of £3 (£2.50 for online bookings) is included in the price of every individual ticket priced over £13, with the exception of tickets purchased as part of a CBSO concert package.
