- Berg Violin Concerto, 27′
- Schubert Symphony No. 9 (Great), 57′
Some call it the “Great C major”. Musicians call it the “Great C monster”! But both are agreed – there’s nothing in all music to match the grandeur of Schubert’s colossal final symphony. We’re delighted to introduce Juanjo Mena to Birmingham, and to welcome back Leila Josefowicz in the heart-rending concerto that Alban Berg dedicated “to the memory of an angel”.
CBSO+ 6pm: Join Colette Overdijk – Tutti First Violin – and other CBSO orchestra members as they introduce tonight’s concert.
