  • Michael Haydn Divertimento in C ( Perger 98, MH 179)
  • Schulhoff Concertino for Flute, Viola & Double Bass
  • Albrechtsberger Partita in D major
  • R. Strauss Metamorphosen

Please note that this Centre Stage concert begins at 7pm unlike the others in this series.

Music from the ashes: in 1945, Richard Strauss looked at the ruins of a civilisation, and thought of Beethoven. The result was Metamorphosen, a wordless war requiem like no other. It’ll sound even more intense in this seven-player version – the heartfelt climax of a concert which pairs music from a more elegant age with a brilliantly entertaining mini-masterpiece by Erwin Schulhoff: a Czech maverick, silenced by the Nazis.

Please note that the programme has changed from the previously advertised Sperger and Haydn. We apologise for any disappointment caused for this change.
