Programme
- Fanny Mendelssohn String Quartet in E-flat Major
- Puccini Crisantemi
- Shostakovich String Quartet No.8
Get closer to our musicians and discover one of Birmingham's best kept musical secrets, a series of short, informal concerts programmed and introduced by our musicians at CBSO Centre.
Whilst Fanny Mendelssohn may not have described herself as ‘an eccentric or overly sentimental person,’ her string quartet wrings emotion from every note. What better to follow this than the heart-tugging twists and turns of Puccini’s Crisantemi, and Shostakovich’s deeply melancholy String Quartet No. 8, whose first performance left the composer in uncontrollable tears.
