The kora and orchestra combine for these evocative Rhapsodies.

This is a truly sublime set: as the second movement puts it, they are ‘Simply Beautiful’ Evocative, poetic, joyful – not to be missed. Following these Rhapsodies, Seckou Keita's Ataya Sonata combines classical music languages with African rhythms in a three-movement work for string quartet, percussion and the kora. This multi-stringed African instrument is given the spotlight, played here by the composer himself.
