The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra is seeking to appoint a Digital Marketing Assistant for a 6-month placement, as part of the UK government’s Kickstart Scheme. This newly created position within the Marketing and Communications team, will work closely with the Marketing Manager and the Digital Content Producer to help implement the digital marketing strategy and to grow our digital reach. The successful candidate will have a passion for social media and all things digital, will have creative ideas about what makes exciting digital content and will enjoy creating content for various online platforms. No previous experience in a digital marketing role is required.

Key Responsibilities

Social Media

  • Support the Marketing team with day-to-day checks of the CBSO social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook & Instagram) - including responding to messages and comments as required
  • Support the Digital Content Producer with creation and scheduling of social media posts in line with the CBSO’s Social Media Strategy
  • Contribute to the Social Media Strategy with creative ideas on content designed to increase audience awareness and engagement

Website & Emails

  • Assist with routine website updates
  • Assist with the creation of marketing emails as required


  • Assist with tracking and reporting of our digital marketing activity
  • Attend CBSO concerts & events as required
  • Any other tasks as reasonably required by the Marketing Manager

Working Hours
Monday to Thurday, 9am to 1pm
