CBSO Youth Chorus tour to Germany

Cbso Youth Chorus In Rehearsal Ga Cropped.

It’s been a summer of singing for our CBSO Youth Chorus. After two brilliant performances at the Royal Albert Hall for the BBC Proms, as part of BBC Proms Youth Choir in Prom 1, and in Holst's The Planets in Prom 14, the girls who are in school years 9 to 13, are off to Germany for their first ever solo tour accompanied by conductor, Julian Wilkins and accompanist, James Keefe.

The programme for the tour has a strong British influence, featuring music by Britten, Elgar, Holst and Rutter. The Youth Chorus are set to perform four concerts during their weeklong tour (24-31 August), singing in Brandenburg Cathedral, Wettin, Bad Schmiedeberg, and Herrnhut.

In amongst concerts and rehearsals, the girls will have time to explore surrounding towns such as Leipzig, Wittenberg and Dresden.

Members of the CBSO Youth Chorus will be keeping a blog from their tour, so keep an eye out for a post and photos upon their return to read first hand experiences of the tour.

“It’s an exciting and eventful opportunity to perform a wide range of music in some of Germany’s best music venues!”
