We are delighted to announce that Classic FM's Margherita Taylor will be presenting our Smooth Classics concert on 29 January.
As the host of Classic FM's own weeknight Smooth Classics show, Margherita will be the perfect guide through a concert of some of the most relaxing classical music in the repertoire.
It's welcome news in the light of our official media partnership with Classic FM, which was announced as part of the launch of the 2015-16 season. The station, which attracts a listenership of 5.6 million worldwide, has recommended a special series of concerts in the current season - including this Smooth Classics evening alongside Tchaikovsky Symphonies, concertos with Artist in Residence Baiba Skride, and our Songs from the Movies Concert on 3 June.
Some audience members will recognise Margherita from her early work hosting such TV shows as ITV’s junior version of Gladiators, Train To Win, BBC2’s The Ozone and Heartland for Central Television (a mixture of celebrity interviews and music). She since moved on to present the channel’s cult prime time show for young people, T4 Sunday, for three years. She is a regular contributor on Sky News’ Sunrise, and has fronted films on the One Show and Sky Arts.
For January's concert, Margherita joins CBSO Associate Conductor Michael Seal and the full CBSO for a concert that features music from Barber, Elgar, Tchaikovsky, Vaughan Williams and more. Also joining them will be two soloists from the CBSO itself - violinist Zoë Beyers and clarinettist Oliver Janes - showcasing some of the incredible individual talents contained within our world-class orchestra.
