Frank North and the Arts for All Coach

Chief Executive Stephen Maddock writes:

"Frank North will be familiar to many of the Orchestra’s regular supporters as the guiding genius behind the Arts for All coach scheme. Over the years, people from across Shropshire, Wellington and North Wales have been able to attend numerous CBSO performances, as well as opera, ballet, theatre, musicals, museums, art galleries, and gardens – all thanks to Frank. More than just a coach, Arts for All has been an important chance for people to access a wide range of cultural events. Where public transport is unavailable or driving at night is too difficult, Frank’s coach scheme has been some passengers’ only opportunity to enjoy world-class performances. Passengers on the coach have purchased more than 23,515 tickets, and many a concert’s atmosphere has been buoyed by the presence of so many enthusiastic listeners.

Of course, the Arts for All coach has also been a vital source of support for the CBSO. Frank has been a long-standing Member, and a passionate advocate for the Orchestra’s work. I have enjoyed so many friendly discussions at concerts and other events with him, and his late wife June, about music, Birmingham and all things CBSO. Though Frank has now retired, the Arts for All coach lives on under the direction of Nick and Judith Marshall."
