What a joy it was to be reunited once again to perform for audiences on our 100th birthday!
On Saturday 5 September, the CBSO came together with former Music Director Sir Simon Rattle taking the baton, alongside soloists Sheku Kanneh-Mason and Roopa Panesar to present our special birthday concert. Birmingham-born actor Adrian Lester presented this special evening, and we're thrilled that so many people across the world joined us in our celebrations - so far, we've had an amazing 150,000 views and some great feedback. Take a look at how the evening went, and don't forget, there's still time to watch the concert!
CBSO's 100th Birthday Celebration is available to stream till 30 September. View now on Vimeo.
On Saturday night we also launched the most ambitious fundraising campaign in the orchestra’s history - The Sound of the Future.
The Sound of the Future campaign is structured around four key priorities. In a nutshell, they are:
- Offering life-enriching artistic experiences – by investing in the most ambitious artistic projects performed by the very best musicians
- Enriching more lives in schools and communities – by bringing inspirational musical experiences to even more people
- Nurturing talent – by giving budding and brilliant musicians unrivalled opportunities to realise their potential
- Welcoming the next generation of concertgoers – by re-imagining concert presentation and diversifying audiences
