A big THANK YOU to everyone who supported the CBSO via the Big Give Christmas Challenge 2019. We raised a fantastic total of £14,430 including matched funding, plus a further £1,374 in Gift Aid!
Thank you also to our match funders, CBSO Chair David Burbidge and his wife Sandra, and the Reed Foundation.
Every pound raised will go towards funding our programme of Schools’ Concerts. If you have experienced the electric atmosphere when the CBSO takes the stage at Symphony Hall, we know you will be able to imagine the wonderful sound of the thousands of young people who join us for our Schools' Concerts. For most, this is a once-in-a-childhood opportunity to hear an orchestra playing live.
Our programme of Schools' Concerts reach 9,000 school children across the West Midlands, including schools in Birmingham, Worcester, Cheltenham and Derby. This year we aim to open the doors of Symphony Hall to host five Key Stage 1 concerts, two Key Stage 2 concerts, four Key Stage 3 concerts, and four relaxed concerts designed especially for those with special educational needs. These have a truly lasting impact on the pupils who attend and help instil a lifelong love of music.
We are also very proud of our partnership with the Birmingham Music Service which offers every Year 7 child and special school pupil in Birmingham state schools a free ticket.
The Big Give Christmas Challenge is the UK’s biggest match funding campaign. All donations made during the campaign are doubled, at no extra cost to the donor, meaning every donation made has double the impact.
The Big Give Christmas Challenge ran between 3 and 10 December 2019 - donations can no longer be made via the Big Give website.
