Birmingham is one of the youngest and most ethnically diverse major cities in Europe, and is also the proud home of the CBSO. At the core of our beliefs is providing opportunities for young people and nurturing their talent, regardless of their background.
The CBSO’s four youth ensembles; Children’s Chorus, Youth Chorus, Youth Orchestra and Project Remix, provide children and young people with unparalleled opportunities to develop new skills, both musical and social, in an engaging and exciting environment. Those aged 8 to 21 have the chance to sing and play challenging repertoire, whilst working alongside members of the Orchestra, in some of the world’s leading venues.
“After being in CBSO choirs for 10 years, I've discovered the importance and power of music for me personally and those around me”
Youth Chorus member and Children’s Chorus alumnus
With around 350 participants in these ensembles each year, it costs the CBSO on average £250 to fund one young person per season.
While we are committed to providing as many opportunities as possible to these talented young performers, continued cuts to public funding each year means that the total we have to raise from private supporters continues to grow. This is why we need your help.
If you would like to support our work and help us to keep delivering these unique opportunities for talented young musicians in the Midlands, simply donate online. Alternatively, you can send a cheque made payable to 'CBSO' to us at our office at CBSO Centre, Berkley Street, Birmingham, B1 2LF, or contact us on 0121 616 6510.
