CBSO String Play-Along Day – Saturday 2nd March 2019
The CBSO are delighted to present our adult string play-along day, where amateur adult string players will have the opportunity to be coached by, and play amongst, members of the CBSO.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work with some of the UK’s foremost orchestral musicians, conducted by the CBSO’s Assistant Conductor Jaume Santonja Espinós, on core orchestral repertoire including Dag Wirén’s Serenade for Strings, Grieg’s Holberg Suite and the second movement of the Shostakovich Chamber Symphony in C minor (transcribed by Rudolf Barshai from 8th quartet).
This full day session will include sectional coaching on the selected repertoire during the morning, followed by tutti rehearsals with CBSO string players joining each section to provide ongoing mentoring throughout the rehearsal process.
Attendance at the day costs £90 per person. Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, however ensemble balance will be taken into account. Please note, we ask that participants are a minimum of grade 5 standard and are aged 18 and over.
The day will be held at the CBSO’s own rehearsal space - CBSO Centre, Berkley Street, Birmingham, B1 2LF from 10.30 – 17.00.
Violin and Cello applications are now closed.
Please only apply if you play Viola or Double Bass.
