The CBSO are delighted to present our Spring Play-Along Day, where young musicians will have the opportunity to be coached by, and play amongst, members of the CBSO.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work with some of the UK’s best orchestral musicians, conducted by CBSO Assistant Conductor Jaume Santonja Espinós, on core orchestral repertoire including selections from Bizet’s Carmen Suites 1 & 2 and selections from Holst’s The Planets Suite.
The full-day session will include sectional coaching on the selected repertoire during the morning followed by tutti rehearsals in the afternoon, with CBSO musicians joining each section to provide ongoing mentoring throughout the rehearsal process.
The day will conclude with an informal final sharing performance to enable participants to share their work from the day with friends and family.
The day will be held at the CBSO’s own rehearsal space — CBSO Centre on Berkley Street in central Birmingham (B1 2LF) — from 10:30am to 5pm (with the final sharing performance taking place at approximately 4:30pm).
Attendance at the day costs £50 per person and booking is essential. Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, however ensemble balance will be taken into account. Please note, we ask that participants are a minimum of grade 5 standard and are 11-18 years of age.
For more information please email Steph Walsh (Schools Officer) or call 0121 616 6522.
Please note that applications are now closed for all instruments except Oboes, Violas and Double Basses.
