Saturday 28 March 2020
The CBSO are delighted to present our Spring Play-Along Day, where young musicians will have the opportunity to be coached by, and play amongst, members of the CBSO on Saturday 28th March 2020. If you or someone you know would be interested in applying, please save the date ahead of applications opening the in new year.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work with some of the UK’s foremost orchestral musicians, conducted by Chloé van Soeterstède. This year's repertoire consists of Mussorgsky's Night on Bare Mountain, and Marquez's Danzon No.2.
This full-day session will include sectional coaching on the selected repertoire during the morning, followed by tutti rehearsals in the afternoon, with CBSO musicians joining each section to provide ongoing mentoring throughout the rehearsal process.
The day will conclude with an informal final sharing performance to enable participants to share their work from the day with friends and family.
The event will be held at the CBSO’s own rehearsal space - CBSO Centre, Berkley Street, Birmingham, B1 2LF from 10:30 – 17:00, with the final sharing performance taking place at approximately 16:30.
Attendance costs £50 per person and booking is essential. Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis following an online application, however ensemble balance will be taken into account. Please note, we ask that participants are a minimum of grade 5 standard and are in school years 7-13 only (ages 11-18). Applications close on Friday 7 February 2020.
