Membership of the CBSO Youth Orchestra is by annual audition - open to all young players of orchestral instruments aged between 13 and 21 who are currently living, or in full-time education, in the Midlands.
Auditions for the season are usually held in the summer term of the preceding academic year, however due to the current COVID-19 situation we will be requesting filmed auditions to be submitted by the 29 May 2020. We will provide full details on how to do this when we issue the audition materials from the 20 April 2020.
We hope to be able to confirm the outcome of your video audition by the end of August 2020, and we will inform you of the result via email. If successful we will then require a non-refundable fee of £130 per member for each course they are invited to join. Financial support is available from the Blyth Major Memorial Bursary Scheme for those who are eligible, while larger grants may be applied for once a year from the James Langley Memorial Trust – please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
