Artsmark is the creative quality standard for schools and education settings, awarded by Arts Council England, recognising their commitment to high quality arts and cultural education.
The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra is proud to be supporting schools and education settings on their Artsmark journey, inspiring children and young people to create, experience, and participate in great arts and culture.
We offer education settings we are working towards, or currently hold an Artsmark Award, with the following opportunities:
Our range of 'off the shelf' workshops can be bought into school as a one off experience for a group of pupils. We have a variety of different workshops which are appropriate for Early Years groups right through to KS3 aged groups, including pupils or classes with additional needs.
Our range of stand alone workshops have a variety of different themes and cross-curricular links, from storytelling in our Musical Storytimes to theatre work in our Shakespeare sessions. They can incorporate not just music, but other art forms such as dance and poetry as well.
All of our schools packages aim to inspire and enthuse children about music, building their skills as creators and performs, expanding their musical experiences, developing their confidence and teamwork and many more learning outcomes dependent on the group and the experience they want.
Prices for these workshops start at just £300. To explore the full extent of what we have to offer please visit www.cbso.co.uk/education or contact us directly at email@example.com or by calling 0121 616 6500.
The CBSO is proud to hold concerts specifically aimed at pupils from KS1, KS2, KS3 and for Special Schools every year. The content of each of these different types of concert are tailored to suit the age range they are aimed at, through appropriate themes, music selection and presentation style. Whist our KS1 Concerts introduce pupils to basic concepts of music such as instruments and the elements of music, our KS3 Concerts go into more depth about the structure of an orchestra, the repertoire it performs, and how this ties into historical and cultural context, giving the programme a cross-curricular element.
More information about these concerts, where they are held (either Symphony Hall or our very own CBSO Centre), how much they cost (no more than £6 per person) and how to book can be found below.
If you have any questions at all please don't hesitate to get in touch with us at firstname.lastname@example.org or 0121 616 6500.
If you are interested in having a longer term, more bespoke series of workshops in your school over the course of a term, academic year or even several academic years then please do contact us to talk this possibility through. We have a proven track record of delivering outstanding partnership projects with both primary and secondary schools, based around a theme chosen by the participating schools, involving creative, cross-curricular workshops, rehearsals with our world class musicians, and culminating in a final sharing performance at either the CBSO Centre or Symphony Hall.
