Junior Children's Chorus FAQ

Am I eligible?
If you are in school years 3 to 5 and enjoy singing, then you are be eligible to join the CBSO Junior Children's Chorus.

Can I observe a rehearsal before joining?
If you would like to join the CBSO Junior Children's Chorus but are unsure of what it entails, why not come along to CBSO Centre to see what it is all about?  Prospective new members are invited open rehearsals, where you can try out the Chorus before applying. Open rehearsals for prospective applicants are held at various times throughout the year. For further information please contact Ella McNamee, Children’s and Youth Chorus Officer, 0121 616 6530. 

Is this choir auditioned?
No, you don't need to audition to join the Junior Children's Chorus.

How do I apply to the Junior Children's Chorus?
If you are interested in joining us, please apply using the Junior Children's Chorus online application form. For further information, or if you have any queries prior to applying, please contact Ella McNamee, Children’s and Youth Chorus Officer, 0121 616 6530. 

Where and when are rehearsals held?
Rehearsals are held every Monday evening from 4.30pm - 5.30pm during term-time. The Chorus meets once a week and learns a range of exciting music. Rehearsals are held at the CBSO Centre, Berkley Street, Birmingham, B1 2LF.

What is the commitment?
Members of the Junior Children's Chorus are expected to commit to weekly rehearsals and participate in all concerts.

Is there a membership fee?
There is an annual membership fee of £80. The CBSO is able to offer a discount for siblings and has a bursary scheme to assist with membership fees if required.
