Celia Richardson
Trustee
Celia Richardson joined the CBSO Board of Trustees in 2024, bringing extensive experience in communications, marketing, public engagement and organisational reputation. She is Director of Communications at the National Trust, one of the UK’s largest conservation and heritage charities, where she helps to tell the story of places, collections, landscapes and communities across the country.
Celia’s career has focused on helping mission-led organisations connect with the public, build trust and communicate the value of their work. Her professional experience spans communications strategy, media relations, public affairs, brand, campaigns and stakeholder engagement, with a particular emphasis on protecting and strengthening the role of independent cultural and civic institutions.
Before joining the National Trust, Celia held senior communications roles in the heritage, charity and community sectors. She has worked with organisations dedicated to place, people and public benefit, developing a broad understanding of how culture, heritage and community engagement can enrich lives and strengthen civic identity.
As a CBSO Trustee, Celia brings valuable expertise in communications, audience engagement and reputation management. Her experience supports the Orchestra’s ambition to deepen relationships with audiences, partners and communities, and to champion the importance of music in the cultural life of Birmingham and the wider West Midlands.
