Charles Barwell OBE
CBSO Development Trust
Charles Barwell OBE is a longstanding supporter of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and a trustee of the CBSO Development Trust. He brings more than 30 years’ experience in wealth management, investment advice and financial services, alongside extensive experience as a charity trustee and governor in the education and cultural sectors.
Charles is a Consultant with Tacit Investment Management, having previously held senior roles with Barclays, Gerrard and Albert E Sharp. He is also closely connected to Malvern College, where he serves as a trustee of the Malvernian Society and member of the Foundation and Property Committee. A former trustee and Deputy Chair of the CBSO, he has played an important role in supporting philanthropy and the development of the Orchestra’s endowment.
As a member of the CBSO Development Trust, Charles contributes financial expertise, fundraising insight and a deep personal commitment to the Orchestra. He is also a singer in the CBSO Chorus, reflecting both his practical involvement in music-making and his belief in the importance of sustaining the Orchestra for future generations.
