Jane Fielding
Deputy ChairJane Fielding was a partner in law firm Gowling WLG LLP; an international law firm with offices in 18 countries, until her retirement from the partnership in June 2023. For 13 years she was Head of the firm's UK Employment, Labour & Equalities team, responsible for all employment and equalities advice to the firm's clients and also to the firm itself, splitting her time between the firm’s offices in Birmingham and London.
Jane was born in Hull but brought up in Worcester. She has a degree in Classics and Modern Languages from Oxford but on graduating converted to a career in law. After qualifying she worked in London for 4 years before moving to Prague as a "trailing spouse" to her husband who was then also a lawyer. The tables were turned when in 2002 she returned to the UK and Worcestershire, where she joined Wragges as the firm then was and her husband became a house husband.
She has always been interested in music; singing Alto in the school choir; playing oboe for many years and more recently as an audience listening to her children's musical endeavours and her husband who sings in two choirs. For part of her time growing up in Worcester, she listened to the CBSO repertoire through the dining room wall; the family lived next door to former leader of the CBSO, Felix Kok!
As well as her role as Trustee for HR, Jane is a member of the Remuneration & Nominations Committee, Chairs the CBSO Group Stakeholder Pension Management Committee and is the Boards’ Health & Safety champion.
