Live at the Centre: Steve Reich at 90

An evening of mesmerising rhythms: celebrating Steve Reich at 90.
Enter a world of spellbinding rhythms and mellow vibes. Steve Reich is one of the most influential American composers of our time. While music has always featured repetition and variation, Reich radically flipped the script to make these the main focus of his compositions. As a result they are meditative, mesmeric, and utterly captivating. This celebratory concert features rhythmic workouts for wind, percussion, strings, pianos, human hands and microphones. Alongside is Eastman’s Buddha, scored for ‘unspecified forces’ and notated in the shape of an egg, and Takada’s beautifully ambient Crossing.
