Introduction

Welcome to the Symphony Hall and this very special concert with the wonderful City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. Whether you're a lifelong fan of The Beatles or new to their iconic catalogue, this event will take you on a journey through the songs that defined a generation and continue to inspire audiences around the world.

The Beatles were without doubt the most innovative pop group ever and the boy band of their day.

They were funny, witty, irreverent seekers always looking to progress and change, whether with their sound, songs or image, and they were a REAL band, they could sing AND play their instruments. From Liverpool via London they conquered the world with their brilliant music and, although they were only a band for a mere seven years from 1962 - 1969, their legacy lives on and to date they’ve sold in the region of 1.6 billion records.

Join Eleanor Rigby, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, Sgt. Pepper and the Fool on the Hill as they buy a Ticket to Ride in the Yellow Submarine on its Magical Mystery Tour along the Long and Winding Road from Penny Lane to Strawberry Fields in search of the Paperback Writer. Help! They must get back and see Jude before the Blackbird sings and they can say Here Comes the Sun and When I’m Sixty Four!

Re-live, re-visit or simply discover the great songs of the ‘fab four’ through this glorious celebration of their music.
