Centre Stage: Circus Music

Join us at the home of the CBSO for an informal afternoon performance, programmed and introduced by CBSO musicians. These concerts give audiences the chance to get closer to the music and experience the artistry of our orchestra members in an intimate setting.
Originally intended to be a ballet, Prokofiev's initially titled Trapeze was transformed into a Quintet due to the complexity of its irregular rhythms. Featuring unusual instrumentation with violin, viola, oboe, clarinet and double bass, this work was commissioned by a travelling troupe in Paris that only contained five members. Schulhoff's Concertino draws from folk influences.
Centre Stage concerts are generously supported by John Osborn CBE.
