Jack Greed is a UK based violinist who enjoys a busy and varied schedule of orchestral, chamber, and solo playing. During his time at the Royal Academy of Music, where he studied for 5 years under the tutelage of Joshua Fisher, he formed Trio Mazzolini with close friends Harry Rylance and Yurie Lee. The trio’s members are passionate about collaborating with living composers, and they enjoy programming new works alongside some of the more established piano trio repertoire in order to create a varied and stimulating experience for their audiences. Together, they have appeared at music festivals including Aldeburgh, Petworth, Lichfield, Folkestone and North York Moors, and they also held a Fellowship position at the Royal Academy of Music from 2020-22.
Their 2019 recording of Weinberg’s Piano Trio (recorded at the Glenn Gould Studio, Toronto) is played regularly on CBC Radio. Jack is a regular player in the first violin section of John Wilson’s newly relaunched Sinfonia of London, and has also appeared as guest leader of Sinfonia Cymru and Fantasia Orchestra. Outside of his work with Trio Mazzolini, he also enjoys regular chamber music engagements with the FEWS ensemble - a flexible ensemble created to bring world class chamber music to Newry and the surrounding areas of Northern Ireland - and the Manchester Collective, whose experimental programming and daring collaborations have earned them a reputation as one of the most exciting ensembles of its kind in Europe.
Jack also enjoys a busy schedule of freelance work with many of the UK’s top orchestras, including the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Hallé, BBC Philharmonic, Manchester Camerata, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Opera North, Garsington Opera, and the Knussen Chamber Orchestra. He looks forward to joining the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra in 2023 as their new No.5 First Violin!
When he is not playing his 2015 Neil Értz violin, Jack is passionate about cooking (and eating), coffee brewing (and drinking), and going to watch his hometown football club, Leeds United!
