Relaxed Concerts

Relaxed Concerts
Concerts specially designed for SEND pupils and Special Schools - FREE for Birmingham-based Special Schools thanks to our partnership with Services for Education, or £3 each for non-Birmingham Schools.
The CBSO holds four relaxed concerts every year to enable pupils attending Special Schools to experience live music in a supported, accessible and engaging environment. These concerts feature a 16-piece mini-orchestra of CBSO musicians and a presenter, who take the audience through an exciting musical narrative combining storytelling, music, and audience participation.
All performances take place at the CBSO Centre, a fully accessible venue, and are delivered in partnership with Services for Education and the Birmingham Music Education Hub.

Following the success of our online stream in January 2025, we are delighted to be reopening access to our FREE online stream of our CBSO Relaxed Concerts, with thanks to our partnership with Services For Education.
Presenter Jane Wright and a 10-piece CBSO ensemble will deliver a performance specially designed for pupils with special educational needs inspired by Wizard of Oz. Pupils will be taken on an interactive musical journey through imaginary worlds, and schools will be provided with a selection of resources in advance of the performance, to help familiarise pupils with the story and create a more interactive concert experience. Performances last for approximately an hour and are suitable for all ages.
