What Mahler Tells Me: that his Symphony No.3 is stupendous.

Kazuki’s epic Mahler series continues with No.3. This symphony attracts a lot of superlatives, and rightly so: it is the longest, among the biggest, and ultimately, one of the most optimistic. It represents nothing less than the composer’s thoughts on the world, nature, love and humanity. As Mahler explained to friends, each movement ‘tells’ something: ‘what the animals tell me’; ‘what the angels tell me’. The final movement is ‘what love tells me’. Celebrated mezzo-soprano Jennifer Johnston joins to sing a warning to humanity, while young singers look towards a kind of joy fulfilled in eternity. The finale is simply sublime. Expect to be moved and utterly transported by this magnificent work.
