Moritz grew up in Bamberg, Germany and started playing the violin at the age of six. After initial lessons with Walter Forchert, he continued his training in Düsseldorf with Michael Gaiser, Trossingen with Winfried Rademacher and London with Berent Korfker. Moritz spent three years as a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra working with conductors such as Bernard Haitink and Vladimir Ashkenazy. After graduating from the Royal College of Music he gained further experience working with orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra and the Hallé before joining the CBSO as Principal Second Violin in 2011.
