Calling all singers in school years 9-13! Join us for exciting musical experiences and unique opportunities.
As a member of the CBSO Youth Chorus you'll work alongside a leading professional orchestra and world-class conductors. You'll perform regularly in one of the best concert halls in the world - Birmingham’s Symphony Hall. The stage is yours!
The CBSO Youth Chorus is an auditioned choir for upper voices in school years 9 - 13. We rehearse from 7:00-9:15pm every Monday evening during term time, with conductor Julian Wilkins. In rehearsals we're here to help you grow in confidence, learn from world-renowned musicians, and develop your musical skills, while creating a professional sound and making lifelong friends.

No booking necessary, just turn up!
How to Join
Sign up for a friendly 15-minute audition which will involve:
- Singing a song of your choice from memory
- Taking part in some musical ear tests
- Practicing a short unseen piece in the warm-up room before giving it your best shot in the audition
Membership Fees
There is an annual membership fee of £110.
Thanks to support from the Leverhulme Trust, bursaries are available to ensure that anyone can join the Youth Chorus, regardless of financial background. Contact Alex Parker at aparker@cbso.co.uk for more information.
Extra Benefits
By joining, you'll also get a chance learn how to use your voice and understand vocal techniques through one-to-one vocal coaching sessions. You'll get the opportunity to take part in out-of-town concerts at venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, and take part in summer residentials and international tours.
